Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for a contract Marketing Representative, Natural Gas. Based in Calgary, this position will report to the Technical Team Lead, North American Natural Gas Marketing. Responsible for Natural Gas Marketing in North America, this positions' key focus is optimization of daily/monthly gas transport and sales, maximizing netback price, contract negotiations, evaluation of pipeline or gas supply opportunities, market analysis, participation in regulatory/industry committees and identification/evaluation of new market opportunities. This is a critical role within Vermilion, with the expectation that the incumbent will fully contribute to the development and execution of the Natural Gas Marketing plan for North America.

This is a temporary contract position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily/monthly natural gas sales for Alberta and Saskatchewan markets
  • Short and long term gas transport optimization
  • Negotiate lease gas sales/processing deals
  • Coordinate gas control function in Canada to ensure proprietary natural gas production can be shipped as produced
  • Work with the Team Lead and various stakeholders to evaluate and develop short and long term natural gas marketing strategy in line with production profile and corporate strategy
  • Identify and evaluate new natural gas markets in North America
  • Participate in the forecasting of natural gas supply, and work with the Operations team to ensure timely forecasting and sales of current and new production
  • Participate in key regulatory and industry committees and report industry developments to management
  • Provide marketing support for NGL sales
  • Price analysis and support for the Team Lead for physical/financial hedging and risk management strategies
  • Identify and evaluate business/market development opportunities
  • Any other assignments or projects as necessary

First Year Deliverables

  • Maximization of daily/monthly natural gas sales
  • Optimization of short/long term gas transport portfolio
  • Assessment of downstream marketing opportunities
  • Assessment of daily/monthly sales strategies

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • A minimum of five years progressive experience in Oil & Gas
  • A minimum of five years' experience specific to Natural Gas Marketing
  • Extensive experience with TC Energy's NGTL system, regulatory affairs, pricing strategies and knowledge of downstream markets
  • NGL and Crude Oil Marketing experience would be considered an asset.
  • Expert ability in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership and critical analysis skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative manner with diverse groups of individuals
  • Ability to work effectively, confidentially and professionally in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Strong team player with the ability to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals
  • Results oriented individual with the ability to work independently, prioritize work and multi-task effectively

Education

  • University degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred
