ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated marketing professional to join our team as Director of Marketing & Communications (maternity leave). Longer term potential may exist for the right candidate. Fundamental to this role is maintaining and driving a standard in excellence for all things brand-related, integrated marketing campaigns, and communications tactics as it relates to the year-round recreational offerings of Sun Peaks Resort. You are a trusted professional with a proven track record of executing a diverse portfolio of marketing and communication initiatives. You are a strategic thinker who can work independently and identify key opportunities for business growth, while leveraging the strengths of your team. You're a key member of the management team and provide support to other business functions as required. You embrace ongoing learning, regularly seeking out marketing trends and best practices in this constantly evolving industry. Your passion for the outdoor lifestyle will lend well to this position and the idea of engaging with a mountain community has strong appeal.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help drive the overall marketing direction for Sun Peaks Resort's key product segments (ski, bike, hike, golf, etc.) through strategic planning, teamwork, and tactical execution
  • Develop media buys
  • planning, budgeting, negotiating, evaluating
  • Own the brand management portfolio and monitor corporate identity
  • Help drive database and email communications strategy
  • Manage the creative direction of both external promotional materials and in-resort ancillary business needs
  • Ensure quality and consistency, manage timelines, write creative briefs, proof and approve materials
  • Support content and social media plans and execution
  • Facilitate the development of key digital assets (photo and video)
  • Measure and report the results of various campaigns and programs
  • Leverage paid, owned, and earned media channels to broaden market appeal
  • Oversee the Snow Reporting communications program
  • Contribute to external community engagement strategy
  • Contribute to overall website strategy and day-to-day tactical decisions
  • Contribute to E-Commerce strategy and assist with execution to drive revenue
  • Manage vendor and third-party relationships; negotiations and contracts
  • Participate in partner relations throughout the industry and various sectors
  • Assist with sales, event, and resort wide tactics as required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five years of experience in a similar or related role
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Commerce, or related field of study
  • Management and supervisory experience essential with strong overall business acumen
  • Direct and detailed experience with digital and traditional marketing campaign development and execution, along with electronic communication management
  • Website development and management experience
  • Experience with database/CRM systems
  • Results oriented with background in analytics and performance metric monitoring
  • Excellent communication and copy writing skills in varied written and verbal mediums
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Effective leader, problem solver, and decision maker
  • Relationship management background with industry stakeholders, vendors, agencies
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans
  • Thrive in a team environment and embrace collaboration across varied platforms
  • Knowledge of the mountain resort product and current competitive environment
  • A passion for outdoor recreation: ski, snowboard, bike, and golf all considered assets
  • Valid driver's license
