As a Jr. Back-End Developer, you'll elevate our various web offerings by delivering performant, effective, and reliable solutions. As a Jr. Back-End Developer, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

  • Ensure code adheres to up-to-date practices, emphasizing maintainability, performance, and security
  • Collaborate seamlessly with team members to drive innovation and avoid pitfalls
  • Craft clear user stories, design robust tests, and continuously deliver product enhancements
  • Tackle user-reported and internally identified bugs head-on to maintain a smooth experience for our users
  • Generate supporting documentation for your code to improve the developer experience, benefitting both yourself and the team

Job Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, or a diploma in a Computer Science-related field and/or a portfolio showcasing your best work
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript and/or (some of) its derivatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Team player with the capacity to work independently
  • Exceptional organizational skills, adept at managing multiple tasks effectively and meeting deadlines

Compensation:

For this position, the typical hiring salary range falls between CAD$65,000 and $75,000 per year. The base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job related qualifications such as knowledge, skills and experience. Floatplane Media's compensation structure is rooted in a performance and merit based approach that acknowledges performance of both the individual and the team.
