SHORT TERM CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY - Event Coordinator

Community Services will be working in partnership with the City of Maple Ridge's Building Safer Communities Project and a variety of young people and youth service providers in Maple Ridge to host a Community Youth Event - YOLO (Youth Offering & Listening Opportunities) initiated and led by youth. The intention of this youth led event is to empower youth voices in our community and provide them with an opportunity to come together to share, educate and engage service providers on their thoughts, ideas, and visions on issues that matter to them. The YOLO is scheduled for late April, 2024.

The YOLO (Youth Offering & Listening Opportunities) Event Coordinator will work independently while providing updates to Alicia Erenli (Community Services Manager). The successful Event Coordinator must have strong communication skills (written and verbal), experience collaborating with youth and planning events from start to finish. The Event Coordinator will engage with members of the public, Youth Advisory Committee, community stakeholders and presenters.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:

• Coordinating with various Youth Advisory and Planning Committees in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to bring together a YOLO planning committee
• Coordinating, attending and supporting planning meetings with the YOLO planning committees
• Working with YOLO to create an event plan
• Liaising with community partners and potential event speakers/presenters
• Working within the event budget
• Creation and distribution of marketing materials
• Coordination and oversight of day of event activities. Being at the event day of to set up, facilitate, and take down after the event
• Provide weekly updates to the Community Services Manager
• Submission of a final report following the completion of the event.
• Must have general liability insurance, minimum of $2,000,000 insurance
• Must have experience coordinating and planning events
