What's the job?

As the successful candidate for this role, you will develop sales strategies and manage growth relationships with architects, distributors, contractors, & owners to generate demand resulting in incremental commercial sales for our extensive line of interior & exterior products and systems as part of our ?project solution? selling approach.

As part of the Architectural Solutions team, you will lead a regional team and play a key consultative role working with key accounts to ?Build Better? high performing and sustainable buildings. Working in partnership with building science, you will use insights and consultative services, to create demand and position CertainTeed objectives or products in projects to drive business results. We need someone who is... client-centric, a strong leader of a talented team, innovative, strategic, driven, tenacious and disciplined with a positive attitude. Working autonomously and developing partnerships will be the key to success in this role as well as.

Additional responsibilities include:

Sales Leadership:

  • Utilize a consultative, solution selling approach across the commercial organization.
  • Continuous improvement through focusing on overall sales effectiveness by leading, coaching and supporting the team effectively.

Account Management & Growth:

  • Influence the specification and purchase of commercial ceilings, grid, and wall systems.
  • Specify, track, and close jobs within the assigned region by creating value and providing each customer account with a competitive advantage.
  • Develop and maintain ?Must Win Project? business plans within the market.
  • Jointly develop plans with ASM and local Territory Managers to maximize growth of Architectural Products.
  • Review, analyze and approve quote requests for Ceiling System distribution customers (all types).
  • Maintain, update and distribute pricing and programs for Ceiling System distribution customers.
  • Negotiate pricing levels and programs on Ceiling System products with Ceiling Distribution customers.
  • Deliver Integrated Value Proposition with Marketing and conduct market sensing reports on customer needs including market intelligence and trends.
  • Obtain Strategic Partnership Agreements with Target Accounts.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Call on contractors, builders, architects/specifiers and owners to create ?pull-through? demand, subsequently working with distribution customers to close related sales.
  • Build, maintain and add value to relationships between customer's and CT's organization; customers include all audiences, including owners, specifiers, contractors, distributors, etc.
  • Provides technical support on ceilings to all commercial customer audience and establishes creditability as a solutions-oriented industry expert.
  • Manage and communicate Rebate Programs for the regions.

Travel: up to 25% overnight


  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, marketing, business or similar discipline, or five (5) years of equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years' of applied professional experience in the pull through sales of commercial building products, managing of senior customer relationships, sales presentations, job site calls, and closing of sales.
  • Experience selling services or consultative solutions.
  • Leading and building high performing commercial sales teams.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and build quality relationships through networking at a senior/ownership level.
  • Good interpersonal, negotiating and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills with good written and oral communication.
  • Results driven, flexible, open-minded and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
