About Our Organization

The Unionville Business Improvement Area (UBIA) is an association that acts on behalf of its member merchants, restaurants, businesses and landowners, along with the City of Markham, to ensure that Main Street Unionville remains a safe, beautiful and vibrant heritage district in the heart of Markham.

The role of the UBIA is to attract visitors, organize and promote events, maintain and beautify the street, communicate regularly with members and liaise with the City of Markham to support a well-functioning commercial environment.

Position Overview:

The UBIA is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Digital Marketing Specialist to join our team for the summer, bringing fresh ideas and creativity to our digital marketing efforts, Between May and August. This position will be hired under the Canada Summer Job program and it is a hybrid position.

Details:

  • No. of positions: 1
  • Hours: 30 hours per week - total 270 hours (must be available for consecutive 9 weeks between May 27th and August 31st from 9:00 am to 5 pm with a total of 30 hours per week)
  • Compensation: $20 per hour
  • Reports to: Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Location: 197 Main Street Unionville, Markham ON L3R 2G8 (Hybrid)
  • Employment Period: Between May 27th and August 31st, 2024 - Total 9 consecutive weeks

Responsibilities:

Video Content Creation

  • Produce high-quality video content, including reels and short videos, to showcase our products/services and engage our target audience
  • Utilize video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) to enhance and polish content

Digital Marketing Campaigns

  • Work with the team and assist in digital marketing campaigns to promote our businesses on Main Street, ensuring brand consistency across all channels
  • Create engaging and visually appealing video content for various digital platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Ensure brand consistency in all digital marketing materials.

Stay Informed

  • Stay updated on the latest trends in digital marketing, social media, and video content creation to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the team

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather content, insights, and ideas for marketing initiatives

Performance Analysis

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of digital campaigns and adjust strategies as needed

Social Media Management

  • Manage and grow our social media presence, interacting with our online community and fostering engagement

Marketing Materials:

  • Assist in the development of marketing materials, including graphics, images, and written content

Skills and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a marketing, communications, or related programs
  • Strong passion for digital marketing, with a focus on creating compelling video content
  • Proficient in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative mindset with an eye for design and aesthetics
  • Familiarity with the Main Street Unionville neighbourhood and businesses is an asset
