We are seeking a talented, experienced and fun Marketing Assistant to join our team.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing Strategy & Management

  • Collaborate with the team on brand strategy, creative concepts and tactics
  • Identify creative requirements for marketing or event projects and develop schedules for deliverables
  • Assist with the development and management of marketing plans, digital plans and budgets
  • Implementation of creative across digital, print and web platforms
  • Analyse social media analytics, email marketing insights and donation information to improve marketing strategies
  • Manage, organize and evaluate donor information on DonorPerfect, and subscription lists on Constant Contact, MailChimp and YouTube

Communications

  • Assist with content updates to client and agency websites
  • Write and post event listings
  • Develop schedules and content for social media channels and directly manage channels as required
  • Create and distribute media materials (releases, info sheets, advisories, invitations)
  • Assist with media relations outreach and follow up as required
  • Create and distribute email flyers and newsletters
  • Compile and design project reports
  • Manage the master media list and internal contact list - continually update, properly segment and improve

Creative Production

  • Produce a wide range of high-quality visual elements including signage and print collateral, digital content for social media channels, print and digital display ads, virtual event assets etc.
  • Produce proof, prepare and finalize creative materials for print/web applications
  • Conceptualize, direct, and manage the production of videos and video assets
  • Perform video-editing on an as needed basis

Event Support

  • Assist with events as and when necessary including managing event guests lists, invitation distribution, on site assistance and RSVPs as required

Client Services

  • Assist in helping solve client/campaign-related problems/issues
  • Monitor specified client emails and phone lines as required
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as required

SKILLS

  • Language:
    • Strong written and verbal communication in English
    • Basic knowledge of French is an asset
  • Technology & Software:
    • Strong knowledge and experience of design tools in the Adobe Suite is required:
      • Photoshop
      • Illustrator
      • InDesign
      • After Effects
      • Premiere Pro
    • Knowledge of Donor Management Systems (DMS) including but not limited to:
      • DonorPerfect
      • Canada Helps
    • Knowledge of web-building platforms including but not limited to:
      • Wix
      • Wordpress
      • Squarespace
    • Industry Experience:
      • Experience working with non-profits and charities
      • Experience working with events and event production
      • Knowledge of the printing and production process

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant experience in the fields of Marketing/Communications/Public Relations (5 or more years)
  • Knowledge of the Ottawa market is an asset
  • Bachelors degree (Bachelors in Marketing or similar preferred)

Additional Information: Remote with regular virtual meetings with team members and clients. Occasional scheduled in-person meetings.

Salary & hours: $37.50/hour for a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Benefits: Bonuses possible.

Location of Work: Knock on Wood team members work remotely, with regular virtual meetings and check-ins with each other and clients. You will also be expected to attend scheduled in-person meetings in Ottawa, Ontario. You will also be required to be present onsite at events.
