Reporting to the Leader, Media Services, the Virtual Event Coordinator is responsible for managing Digital Hybrid Virtual Events including webcasts, audio (podcasts), and all types of video productions including two-way livestreaming from operating rooms at SPH. The position sets up and operates various audio-visual equipment for live stream events, media for availabilities and presentations as required including video recording and editing for distribution to media outlets or web. It is also responsible for preventative maintenance of audio-visual, equipment and coordinating with IT personnel for computer and network maintenance as required.

The position also produces and provides video content for internal and external websites and social media channels, including all aspects of client relations, pre-production, production and post-production. It develops and implements educational and training resources for hospital departments by consulting with departments to determine needs, preparing related proposals, budgets and work plans, contracting with outside services and supervising designated staff to ensure timely and appropriate production of these resources. The position researches current and future video production trends and systems to understand technological changes and recommend updates and purchases; determines the need for and appropriateness of new technologies by acquiring, evaluating and implementing them

Qualifications / Skills and Education:

Education

Graduation from a recognized degree or diploma in a related discipline plus two (2) years' video/multimedia experience, or an equivalent combination education, training, and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operates and is responsible for a variety of videoconference systems which includes scheduling, programming of bookings, operation of equipment including, standard and digital video cameras, broadcasting networks over satellite and fiber optics, video switchers, audio boards and other associated hardware and software.

Records and mixes content on computers and related system component using a variety of digital tools including motion graphics (i.e,. Apple Motion) digital compositing (i.e. After effects), digital graphics (i.e. Photoshop), animation software and non-linear editing systems such as FCP, Adobe Suite-Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve.

Sets up computers and network conversion equipment for virtual events from lecture halls, operating rooms and all site locations. Tests network capacity for each source for each session.

Provides project management for virtual events including labour, budgets and timelines.

Produces video and multimedia resources in support of education and training initiatives within PHC and external affiliated organizations by consulting with clients to clarify their needs, budget and timeframe and providing advice regarding the best creative approach and best application of technology to meet their needs. Prepares related budgets and timelines; researches material and makes recommendations on instructional design techniques; and prepares written proposals and writes scripts. Where relevant, the position drafts design approaches for interactive multimedia resources and presentations. Supervises all production phases including writing, shooting, editing, and final delivery of production performed by PHC and contract staff.

Provides day-to-day work direction designated staff involved in production by scheduling and coordinating work, determining training needs, and providing coaching and guidance.

Sources, evaluates, negotiates and contracts with external organizations for contract workers such as writers, on-screen talent, editors, and other production personnel as well as outside companies for the provision of production services.

Does preventative maintenance of audio-visual, equipment. Coordinates with IT personnel for computer and network maintenance as required.

Designs, prepares and operates mobile cart with audio visual, digital and computer components for remote live streaming from operating rooms as required.

Provides instruction/tutorials on software use for clients.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
