Complexity and Scope of the Position

The Marketing Manager (MM) is an integral member of the Integrated Marketing & Communications team tasked with delivering our marketing vision. The Marketing Manager will be responsible for providing strategic marketing advice to a defined Chartwell platform and/or marketing regions. The MM will be responsible for the development and execution of platforms, regions, clusters, opportunities, and lease-up residence marketing plans aligned with the Corporate Marketing Plan. The MM will be accountable for ensuring we increase leads generated in all sales channels using creative strategies under the brand alignment. Building relationships and communicating regularly with Directors of Regional Sales (DRS) and Platform Leads are paramount. The Marketing Manager will also play an important collaborative role with the Integrated Marketing team which includes Digital Experience, Communications, and Creative Services, as well as support Strategic Sales, Business Development, and Community Outreach initiatives.

Key Activities Lead Generation and Occupancy Goals:
  • Work closely with Directors of Regional Sales and Business Development Managers, utilize market analysis, SWOT analysis, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities and challenges in a designated market.
  • Work with paid investment stakeholders and ensure regional marketing investment is allocated effectively and efficiently to drive business goals.
  • When required, manage the onboarding process for acquisitions and lease-ups into the same-store platforms to ensure seamless integration into the brand and develop media plans as required for newly acquired properties, aligned to the corporate marketing plan.

Analytical Reviews of Campaigns and Initiatives:

  • Regularly analyze the performance of marketing campaigns and initiatives to ensure effective spending and strategic value.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on analytical reviews to enhance future marketing strategies.

Contribution to Marketing Education, Competitive Intelligence, and Consumer Insights:

  • Act as the marketing expert and trusted advisor to Operations and Sales teams by conducting program rollout sessions and sales training presentations and by being the primary point of contact with Directors of Regional Sales and Business Development Managers.
  • Contribute to marketing education initiatives to ensure sales team members are well-informed about marketing and referral strategies, sales enablement tools, prospect data, and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute competitive intelligence, consumer insights, and media trends information to influence marketing strategies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities, sharing relevant information with the team regularly.
  • Guide in building responsive media plans based on Sales and Operations objectives and priorities offline tactics with the designated media partners and/or agency.
  • Work with digital experience team in support of digital advertising strategies.
  • Tailor media plans that are responsive, considering variations in reach, message, and tactics.

People Management

  • Manage one direct report: the Marketing Specialist

Other

  • Lead on other marketing projects as required with direction of Sr. Marketing Manager
  • Qualifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a marketing role, preferably in a client service position at a marketing company or agency. Client Service experience is essential.
  • Strong team player with an open mind and committed to excellence, passionate.
  • Consumer Packaged Goods, multi-location/franchise or service business experience.
  • Strong leadership and a professional image.

Education:

  • Must have a Marketing, Advertising, or Business & Commerce degree from a recognized 3-year program.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Brand management and stewardship across all departments/teams.
  • Communication skills - written, oral, listening, presenting.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills working with both internal and external partners.
  • Creative briefing and managing the creative development process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills.

Special Requirements

  • Chartwell is a publicly traded company and therefore confidential information must be managed with great care.
  • Travel for property visits, corporate conferences and Platform/Regional meetings will be required. It may include travel outside of Canada.
  • Must drive and have a car available.
