We are looking for a Senior Advisor, External Communications professional to oversee the development and implementation of external communications for ENMAX.
Reporting to the Vice President, Public Affairs the Senior Advisor, External Communications is a natural storyteller who will work closely with ENMAX's Community, Communications & Brand team members who are responsible for developing corporate messaging.
The Senior Advisor is a self-starter who will provide strategic support for issues management and media relations activities providing leadership in these areas where needed. As part of the communications team, this role offers writing support to team members, is a member of the on-call rotation and part of the crisis communications team.
Major Responsibilities :
Evolve, lead and manage ENMAX's external communications strategy to align with the organization's strategic vision, objectives and priorities.
Work with the Community, Communications & Brand team to advance storytelling to enhance the brand story.
Provide senior communications support for issues management.
Integral member of the crisis communications / media relations team.
Develop, implement and maintain an integrated external communications project plan and calendar, as well as holding accountability for overall external communications content sustainment.
Work with senior executive and business unit leaders as a business partner to plan and execute a range of projects and initiatives requiring external communications support.
Part of the communication team on call rotation.
Eight or more years' experience in relevant role in the communications, media relations or public relations field.
An undergraduate degree in communications, media relations, public relations or a suitable combination of education and work experience.
Qualifications & Experience :
High degree of comfort dealing with the media on behalf of a complex organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience supporting at the executive level.
Strong experience planning strategic communication for issues management, change and project initiatives.
Experience with social media and on call support would also be considered an asset
Ability to strategize mutually beneficial solutions on cross functional teams.
Exceptional writing, editing and communications skills, with demonstrated experience writing for multiple audiences
Deliver quality results with high attention to detail in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
Strong project management/organizational skills
Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to make decisions and improve communications
Independent thinker, capable of developing and driving innovative solutions to manage and organize workflow
Strong commitment to editorial integrity and corporate brand/reputation protection
Ability working with all levels of employees, including senior leaders
Strong leadership skills to coach communications team members through a collaborative content development process where needed
