Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Global HR Communications, the Communications Consultant is a driven, strategic thinker with a passion for challenging conventions and championing employees. A key member of a Global Communications team, you'll create and deliver innovative, business-driven communications strategies and tactics for Global HR, focusing on ?what's in it for me? messaging to bring campaigns and initiatives to life. This role provides consultation to various departments within HR and may include writing articles for our intranet MFCentral, blogs, videos, PowerPoint presentations, organizing events, and more.

Individual Accountabilities:

  • Create and execute internal, evolving communication strategies that are effective and relevant to all stakeholders
  • Develop and execute leading-edge communications across all mediums (electronic and print) that are engaging, informative and relevant to the audience, including articles, PowerPoint decks, blogs and other communications tactics, as needed
  • Act as the liaison with internal business units to ensure communications are aligned with Global HR strategy
  • Manage external vendors, including translation and printing
  • Drive employee engagement through comprehensive communication strategies that bring Manulife's Mission to life while driving Global HR campaigns and initiatives
  • Develop and execute leading-edge communications across all mediums (electronic and print) that are engaging, informative and relevant to the audience, including articles, PowerPoint decks, blogs and other communications tactics, as needed
  • Responsible for supporting strategic HR initiatives by telling our story through one voice that resonates and builds engagement with employees globally.
  • Proactively build relationships with senior executives and their teams to provide communications advice and counsel to address each stakeholders' requirements, regional considerations and ensure alignment in all geographies.
  • Collaborate across all communication teams (Corporate and within the regional markets), businesses and functions to provide a consistent and thoughtful approach to communications.
  • Ensure projects are on time with exceptional project management skills
  • Manage external vendors, including translation and printing

Job Requirement:

  • University or college degree in English, Communications, Marketing or Journalism, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-8 years progressive work experience in developing and implementing effective communications plans and solutions to meet business needs
  • Experience being a team leader on projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus effectively
  • Creative thinker with familiarity in visual communications, PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with emerging communication media such as wikis, blogs, videos, infographics and other tools and how they can be applied in an enterprise environment
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to juggle projects, prioritize and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience interacting with all levels of senior management.
  • Strong problem solver
  • Excellent verbal communication, writing and editing skills (CP-style)
  • Experience managing external vendors, including translation, design and printing
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic, ever-changing work environment
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Proven ability to help develop, recommend and implement marketing/communications tactics consistent with business objectives
  • Experience at a financial institution or supporting HR an asset
