About the Role

The Director of Product Marketing and Strategy is responsible for providing guidance to the organization's multi-domain product portfolio and systems solutions to meet the corporation's goals of profitability, market share and return on investment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy
  • Actively solicit feedback from the sales force as it pertains to trends in customer requirements
  • Keep CTO appraised of such trends, as well as requirements of major opportunities and competitive offerings
  • Provide market uptake analysis in support of investment in new product development

Provide market requirements to major NPI projects

  • Strategic Marketing
  • Actively identify and execute upon industrial partnership and co-marketing opportunities where it would strengthen WESCAM's market position
  • Identify potential corporate acquisition candidates and generate supporting business analysis
  • Competitive Intelligence
  • Understand the product line, competitive position, business strategy and performance, and major platforms/wins of competitors in WESCAM's market space
  • Produce regular reports of competitor performance where information is available
  • Understand competitors' product/technical offerings and strengths (differentiators) and weaknesses versus WESCAM products. Advise sales on how to counter perceived competitor strengths.
  • Generate competitive analysis for the sales force in support of opportunity development
  • Generate competitive and price-to-win analyses for major proposals
  • Market Analysis
  • Stay well-informed of the global PESTEL and military environment for potential impact on WESCAM's markets
  • Stay well-informed of major sources of funding (e.g. programs, other government funding) in the addressable market
  • Generate forecasts of global defense spending trends. Includes market growth/decline rate (CAGR)
  • Maintain the ability to forecast the size and growth/decline rate of individual market segments within military EO/IR
  • Generate market share analysis as input to business strategy activities
  • Technical Marketing
  • Support Marketing Communications as it pertains to product messaging, positioning, and technical accuracy of marketing collateral
  • Support the sales force, especially in the pre-bid phase of opportunity development, with tools such as competitive analyses, technical briefs, and ?white papers'
  • Generate and maintain detailed product overview documents and PowerPoint presentations
  • Keep Sales & Marketing appraised of the product roadmap
  • Support the market launch process in the introduction of new and refreshed product to the customer base
  • Price Book
  • Assist in providing Competitive feedback on annual cycle
  • Manage direct reports, including capability/career development and mentorship
