The Communications Specialist, Digital Engagement, is responsible for performing a variety of digital communications activities, with primary emphasis on producing and executing engaging storytelling through videography. The role provides support for social media activities and collaborates with the broader Communications team to promote digital engagement.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of a diploma or certification in communications, branding, or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum two years progressive experience in social media and digital communication.
  • Experience in the public sector is an asset.
  • Experience in photography is an asset.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the employer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Sound knowledge of the principles and practices of communications, particularly within a public sector environment
  • Sound knowledge of digital engagement tools and various social media platforms
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite at an intermediate level and photo-editing tools
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to inspire internal and external audiences through digital storytelling and multi-media stories
  • Ability to communication effectively and educate and inform clients through informative graphics and compelling videos
  • Ability to analyze, problem-solve and mediate difficult situations
  • Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external partners, including agencies and contractors
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressures, with scrupulous attention to details
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner and display a high degree of judgement, discretion and decision-making ability
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
