DIRECTOR, COMMUNICATIONS

Band 4

BC's Office of the Human Rights Commissioner exists to address the root causes of inequality, discrimination and injustice in B.C. by shifting laws, policies, practices and cultures. We do this work through education, research, advocacy, inquiry and monitoring.

The Director of Communications leads the planning, development and implementation of the Office's strategic communications efforts and works closely with the Commissioner to ensure alignment with the BCOHRC's overall strategic plan and priorities. This role is responsible for internal and external communications functions including media and public relations, outreach, issues management, and brand development.

A member of the senior leadership team, the Director provides expert communications advice, direction and support to the Human Rights Commissioner and senior staff, contributing to the organization's strategic priorities to promote efficient and effective fulfilment of the Commissioner's mandate to promote and protect human rights across the province.
