The White Rock Business Improvement Association represents and supports White Rock businesses through advocacy, event coordination, promotion & marketing, and economic development.
ABOUT THE ROLE:

Do you thrive in dynamic work environments? Then you may be a great fit for the Events & Marketing Specialist role!
The Event & Marketing Specialist position is a full-time, 35 hr per week position for eight weeks. It is funded through the Government of Canada's Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must: be aged between 15 and 30; be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant & Refugee Protection Act; be legally entitled to work in Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Executive Director and Communications & Events Coordinator with the current communications programs;
- Help develop a new e-Newsletter program;
- Create engaging blog posts on White Rock activities;
- Help develop a new online video program featuring White Rock business owners;
- Help develop new promotional campaigns to support White Rock businesses;
- Research and develop street activation programs;
- Research other BIAs & business organizations to discover new ways to support White Rock businesses;
- Provide administrative and office support;
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passionate about community and the wonderful businesses in White Rock;
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with an ability to effectively craft communication pieces across different mediums;
- Tech-savvy with a background in digital communications;
- Event planning experience;
- Fulfill the program requirements of the Canada Summer Job Program;
- Filming and video editing skills are definite assets but not a requirement;
- Graphic design skills and experience is a definite asset but not a requirement;
- Drivers' License and access to a vehicle are an asset but not a requirement.
- This is a full-time (35 hrs per week) position that primarily will work Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm (with one hour unpaid lunch) for eight weeks. This job will likely begin on June 8 2020, but the starting date can be flexible for the right candidate.
Salary: $19.50 per hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation
