PURPOSE 

The AdOps Specialist is a key member of the advertising-operations team, that is responsible for the effective management and execution of all digital display, mobile and native-type campaigns across the Kitco Media divisions current and future properties, and varied client portfolios. The AdOps Specialist’s role includes media reservations, campaign creation, daily campaign management, creative testing and trouble-shooting, ad-trafficking, campaign implementation and optimization. Adjunct functions include financial reconciliation of account invoices, payment schedules, and sales collateral presentation, including client quotes, proposal presentations as provided by Sales Manager, and campaign performance reporting.

 

Reporting to the Advertising Sales Manager, the AdOps Specialist will need to demonstrate a high level of customer service, organizational, time management and presentation skills, while working with both internal and external clients. Integrated as part of the Advertising Sales team and working closely alongside a broader Media and News group, the position will frequently liaise and integrate with various workgroups within the digital eco-system at Kitco, including digital account managers, creative and graphic design specialists, digital publishers, systems specialists, operations task forces, marketing and finance departments, all the while maintaining continued collaboration with product managers and editorial teams to ensure that Kitco policies and best practices are maintained relative to the position’s roles. This individual is tech-savvy and at ease adopting, using, manipulating and managing various digital marketing platforms, such as Google DFP (and similar platforms) CRM and other digital advertising technical tools, to ensure proper tracking, ad serving, media billing and revenue reporting required by clients, team members and stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ad traffic implementation, coordination and management for all digital advertising campaigns and accounts, both internal and external clients;
  • Maintain pre and post-deployment quality assurance (QA) processes for all ads (3rd party tags, files, custom/native creatives), assuring that they meet creative policies and specifications as well as IAB standards and are tracked properly both internally in Google Ad Manager and/or by external 3rd party providers;
  • Liaise, communicate on a regular basis and assist the Advertising Sales Manager with any required job-related functions deemed by the Ad Manager as necessary to optimize client expectations and requirements, and maximize advertising revenues for Kitco Media, including but not limited to the research of various target markets, new prospects, sales presentations, proposals, and sales/client related activities, internally and externally;
  • Liaise and communicate with any external agencies used by Kitco Media to manage, sell and traffic internal and external advertising campaigns, tags, creatives and research metrics;
  • Ongoing daily maintenance of all internal and external client accounts, including but not limited to the preparation of insertion orders, invoices, sales reports and the daily management and maintenance of Kitco’s ad management tools and platforms, current and future;
  • Management and collection of client advertising invoices, payments and reporting to internal and external financial users;
  • Planning, coordination and follow-up on tasks and responsibilities of Media/News department stakeholders regarding external conferences and events, such as PDAC, VRIC and others;
  • Provide Ad Sales Manager, advertising agencies and clients with ongoing support on ad campaigns, such as answering client enquiries, providing rates, demographic information and campaign metric reports, in a timely and accurate manner, as often as possible anticipating and preempting internal and external requests;
  • Prepare, update and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual stewardships reports for clients;
  • Enter and maintain client contacts, billing and compliance information into the CMIS, CRM and Navision systems;
  • Weekly monitoring of campaign pacing, delivery of impressions and performance metrics according to contractual obligations, identify and alert of any discrepancies and suggest optimization solutions to Ad Manager and clients;
  • Identify, alert and attempt to resolve any billing discrepancies related to external advertising insertion orders/contracts;
  • Generate, prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual sales and revenue reports for management;
  • Coordinate and manage internal (PMD) Marketing department promotional campaigns, creative trafficking material deadlines, approvals and performance reports;
  • In a timely manner, alert Advertising Sales Manager of any current or potential issues and suggest issue resolutions;
  • Handle miscellaneous tasks that may arise on an ad hoc basis and that are deemed necessary, within the scope of the job functions, by the Advertising Sales Manager and/or Media Director that ensures the smooth flow and optimization of Media department objectives;

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required;
  • 2+ years of administrative and sales support work experience (recent and relevant) is required;
  • Previous advertising agency and/or digital marketing agency work experience is strongly preferred, as is experience with a digital publisher (recent or relevant);
  • Strong and hands-on knowledge of common serving platforms, such as Google DFP, Ad Manager 360, AdMob, AdX and Firebase is required;
  • Experience with mobile application advertising campaigns is required;
  • Knowledge of HTML and Javascript required;
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint are required;
  • Knowledge of social media advertising and monetizing social media channels is highly preferred;
  • Fundamental skills in working with Google Analytics, Ad Sense, Adwords and Bing Ads is highly preferred;
  • Practical knowledge of ad yield and on-line performance metrics is highly preferred;
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and instinct for revenue-generating activities is preferred;
  • Possession of one or more of the following is (are) considered as asset(s)
    • Familiarity with graphics design concepts (ex: banner sizes);
    • Familiarity with A/B split testing techniques;
    • Experience in putting together creative marketing presentations and solutions for prospective advertisers;
    • Experience with CRM platform;
    • Bilingualism (English/French);
