Posting Description

Reporting to the President, the Market Planning Manager - Consumer is responsible to manage the planning and execution of the Consumer Business Unit’s product planning, sales planning, customer pricing/program development and maintenance, market intelligence, and influence the marketing communications in order to develop the segments shorter term unit, revenue, and profitability targets while ensuring alignment with Yokohama's medium to long term Brand Strategy.

Key Functions

MARKET PLANNING

  • Prepare annual and monthly tire unit, revenue and gross profit plan in accordance to guidance from Director Sales
  • Prepare zone and channel sales plans
  • Plan, organize, and manage seasonal sales strategies for direct, National Account, and sub dealer levels aligned to the market goals/expectations of the organization
  • Plan and organize ad hoc sales programs as required aligned to the market goals/expectations of the organization
  • Review Programs and Seasonal strategies after the fact to analyze success and failures of programs and provide insight into future program design needs
  • Manage product lifecycle planning including item lifecycle status, item discontinuance actions and new product introductions
  • Participate in the process of inventory planning to ensure efficient use of company resources to support sales plan/forecasts

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND REPORTING

  • Provide BUD with monthly written reports on zone position (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat “SWOT” Concept) on customer needs, problems, interests, competitor activities and potential for new products and services
  • Provide BUD with call activities planning and report
  • Provide quarterly reports on progress of strategies (follow-ups with Account Managers, etc.)
  • Provide monthly Sales P&L variances analysis with action plan
  • Interact with administrative, sales, technical services and distribution staff

SUPERVISING

  • Lead, manage and develop employee(s) with the goal of improving their productivity and value to the company to be in line with department and company objectives
  • Enforce all sales policies, practices and procedures
  • Foster strong team collaborative environment
  • Champion bi-annual performance assessment program
  • Monitor and control team’s fixed expenses

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Economics or Business
  • 5 to 8 years of experience Market Planning or comparable role
  • Experience in the consumer goods sector
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software
  • Experience in wholesale and retail distribution networks  
  • Strong understanding of customer, commercial and market dynamics
  • Willingness to travel, on an occasional basis
  • Proven ability to achieve develop pricing, sales quotas
