Job Description

As an essential member of the regional Marketing & Events team, the Digital Marketing Specialist will work collaboratively to support regional initiatives including regional and corporate events, regional marketing campaigns, digital campaigns, strategies, and other projects as required.

Undertaking a regional perspective and working closely as a team the Digital Marketing Specialist will support the Manager, Marketing and Promotions, Manager, Marketing and Events, and Marketing and Events Coordinator in developing regional marketing and events strategies, campaigns, and event programming. Ensure timely corporate or national branding/marketing within the region and adapt regional campaigns to be effective within any corporate or national criteria.

The Marketing and Events team will be a regional resource and will work closely with all Calgary properties to provide guidance and vision for yearly marketing strategy and events, pursuing opportunities to augment tactics, collateral, and consistency across all properties and seeking opportunities to share and replicate events at various sites. Work closely with the property management teams to execute initiatives within the approved business plan budget on time and on budget, working with agency(ies) as required but always seeking to find efficiencies and economies of scale.

This regional team is responsible for generating, brainstorming, creating, and executing the yearly marketing strategy and events calendar with buy-in from the property teams. Properties ultimately decide what will be executed at the site, but this team shall provide support, creativity, and expertise. In addition, this team will plan, support, and contribute to the success of Brookfield corporate events including quarterly, social, United Way, and company events. Provide support and be an additional resource for the office and retail leasing marketing as requested.

The Digital Marketing Specialist will play a lead role in developing and overseeing the execution of digital marketing and social strategies to support all Calgary properties and support their respective objectives from a regional perspective.

Working closely with both the Regional Marketing and National Operations teams, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the digital marketing and communication tools remain relevant and effective as the market and technologies shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Digital Marketing Project Management -

Advise the Manager, Marketing, and Promotions on digital strategies to optimize exposure and ensure customer retention

Plan and execute a comprehensive program of digital marketing initiatives to help drive awareness, growth and enhance market positioning

Coordinate seamless deployment of digital marketing for all Retail, Arts & Events (A&E) and Tenant Services promotions and assign critical deadlines to Manager, Marketing & Promotion, and Tenant Services based on the required content

Coordinate additional digital marketing projects (i.e. social and omin-channel marketing) with third-party vendors on behalf of the Retail, A&E, and Tenant Services departments as required

Advice properties/agencies on email marketing strategies as applicable.

Support app onboarding, engagement, and subscriber retention strategies for the property and corporate employee channels.

Run analytics reports for various platforms and submit the monthly report to the Manager, Marketing & Promotions

Responsible for working on multiple projects simultaneously with little to no supervision (as directed)

Social Media Content Management -

Manages and updates the following Social Media channels: Instagram, LinkedIn

Oversee and coordinate social media content strategy and deployment schedule. Acquire, edit, write, post, and share social content

Monitor channels and respond to comments, complaints, and inquiries in a manner and timeframe set out by Brookfield's corporate social media policies

Review other regional strategies and keep current on platform and technology shifts.

Recommend social media enhancements and solutions as part of the overall regional strategy and suggest/implement adjustments to best practices to reflect current industry trends

Administer and promote online contests through the website, app, and social media

Manage live social media coverage of events

Axiis App -

Post promotions, events, contests, and other content as required on behalf of the retailers, A&E, Tenant Services, and Retail Marketing

Support strategies for onboarding, engaging and retaining tenants on the app. Including but not limited to coordinating and scheduling monthly app subscriber promotions and incentives such as App-e-Hour

Monitor and report bugs to the third-party provider

Email Strategy & Campaigns -

Produce e-blasts for distribution to the subscriber database

Obtain and post retailer content ensuring it meets our specifications and brand standards

Manage seasonal list growth and scrubbing tactics to ensure we maintain growth and a high open rate

Web Content Management -

Manages regional websites including liaising with the digital services agency and the ability to make structural and content changes in real-time

Create, edit and publish page content using search engine optimization (SEO) best practices

Assist in maintaining the Store Directory on the retail website and all onsite Digital Directory portals

Consultations & Support -

Work with Tenant Services, retailer tenants, and internal customers to create fresh, relevant, target demographic appropriate content for our digital communication platforms

Ensure compliance with communication policies, procedures, and brand standards

Basic copywriting, creative development, and photo-editing for internal and external customers

Coordinate with new tenants to draft store profiles and ?Coming Soon? and ?Now Open? messages

Obtain and schedule notices and internal ads for our in-center digital media screens

Events and Marketing Opportunities -

See efficiencies in the overall regional or property-specific marketing strategy. Provide expertise, recommendation, and guidance to support retail (e.g. signage, graphics, communications, events, etc.)

See opportunities to develop regional strategies for the use of placemaking, events, and cross-marketing Brookfield Properties across the Calgary properties.

In keeping with the new Brookfield Properties brand guidelines, ensure a consistent style of messaging, imagery, and communication to internal and external parties across the region. Generate digital marketing opportunities and strategies across all property sites liaising with agency and property teams as if applicable.

Be a resource to retail or office leasing initiatives if opportunities arise.

Working closely with all properties to share best practices and events across the region. Assist the team in generating ideas and digital execution considerations on any installation or event that optimizes common areas, and public spaces (e.g. holiday décor, public events, performances, etc.).

Seek to find opportunities to replicate events or offer simultaneous events or installations by adjusting the scale to be appropriate for space and property.

As a team, work with the properties, leasing, and development as necessary to proactively develop general plans considering the future state. Engage with stakeholders now for buy-in for future execution.

QUALIFICATIONS

SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS:

Prior working experience in customer service, marketing, events, and communications

Good understanding of CASL and other national or provincial communication legislation

Knowledge of retail marketing strategies as an asset

EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Good knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, etc.)

2+ years experience with Adobe Design Programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

High-level understanding of most current operating systems and web browser functionality

High proficiency in Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

High proficiency in the following web-based content management systems (CMS) and email platforms.

High proficiency in current/popular social media platforms and third-party software and social marketing/advertising tactics, in particular: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Sprout Social or equivalent.

High-level knowledge of digital marketing channels, emerging technology, and B2C marketing trends

Working knowledge of simple HTML coding

EDUCATION/DESIGNATIONS/LICENSES:

Post-Secondary/University degree is required and/or equivalent work experience

Post-Secondary Digital Marketing degree or credits an asset

Certificate in Marketing and/or Events Management is an asset
