  • Position Summary

The Manager, Conference Sales supports the fulfillment of Tourism Whistler's goals and objectives through the proactive selling of new Group business with prospective clients and the building of relationships with existing clients. This positions main responsibility is to produce room nights for the resort and to develop and maintain Tourism Whistler's client base. Through the use of outstanding communication, interpersonal skills, a high level of enthusiasm and initiative, the Manager delivers superior service to our clients with a strong passion for our industry and purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Tourism Whistler ambassador, living our purpose and vision with passion & energy, achievement and respect
  • Achieve set sales targets within allocated budgets
  • Proactively seek new sales prospects; research qualify, propose, follow up and close group leads
  • Conduct sales presentations to new prospects, conduct regular visitations to existing travel partners and industry contacts
  • Arrange and host in-market sales missions and client events in partnership with members and industry partners
  • Coordinate and attend relevant trade shows as Tourism Whistler's representative and follow up on all sales leads generated
  • Build strong relationships with industry partners to leverage sales opportunities
  • Serve as a member liaison to ensure and maintain working relationships with partners in the industry
  • Maintain effective database of clients and accounts
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a sales management role
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong sense of customer service
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry, Whistler and our partners
  • Knowledge of Amadeus (formerly Delphi) an advantage
  • Experience selling a Conference Centre an advantage
