What will you do at Ciena as an Internal Communications Specialist, HR Programs and Global Employee Meetings, Specialist?
At Ciena, our success is rooted in people. The Specialist, Internal Communications, HR Programs and Global Employee Meetings will be part of Ciena's fast-paced Global Marketing & Communications (GM&C) organization, helping to bring our
People Promiseand employee experience to life.
Reporting to the Global Director of Internal Communications (IC), you will work closely with Ciena's People & Culture (P&C aka HR) leadership team and operational Centers of Excellence to communicate HR programs and policies that inspire and support our people. You will also engage with leaders and colleagues across the company to reinvent and deliver Ciena's quarterly Global All Hands and Manager Forum events.
P&C Communication Activities
You will partner with P&C leadership to translate strategic imperatives into concise and compelling employee communications that drive awareness and engagement for: performance and growth; total rewards; wellness; diversity & inclusion; talent acquisition; employee recognition; employee listening, etc.
Develop written and visual communications, including company-wide and regional emails; comprehensive campaigns; intranet content/stories/videos; and key messages/talking points/FAQs in support of P&C, assisting other lines of business when required.
Maintain ongoing editorial calendar for P&C communications, including Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), working with IC colleagues to sequence/coordinate with other enterprise communications and advise P&C team on optimal approach.
Event Communication Activities
Lead proactive planning and logistics for company Global All Hands meetings, Manager Forums, and other global events.
Develop themes, set the agenda, coordinate content, recruit and mentor presenters.
Assist in live production and facilitate Q&A behind the scenes.
Promote attendance and follow through with playbacks, key take-aways and opportunity to provide feedback.
Distribute communications, using appropriate internal communications channels, in coordination with global and regional colleagues to ensure the right messages are shared with the right people at the right time.
Help develop and advocate guidelines and processes that ensure communications and plans are of the highest standard and effectively represent Ciena's brand and tone of voice.
Measure the effectiveness of communications strategies and tactics and continually seek to identify new ways to improve current approaches and practice.
Other duties as assigned by the Director, Internal Communications.
- BA degree, specialty in Communications/Journalism, Human Resources, or Business Administration
- 5 years in a communications specialist or HR generalist role, preferably within a global or technology company
- Understanding of human resources fundamentals
- Organizational Change skills are a plus
- Planning/project management
- Strong verbal/written communications

- Highly organized
