Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Application Development, Enterprise Applications & Solutions (EASI) or their designate, the Senior Software Developer will be part of a dynamic, collaborative and innovative team focused on delivering transformational technology solutions to the University. As a full stack developer will support the development of the new Course Information System, a university-wide enterprise application to improve the University's administrative management and student systems.

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for developing both the front and back ends of applications that will include project planning and working with clients during the planning phase of projects. This will include executing initial design and development of new software or performing extensive software revisions to existing code, troubleshooting, testing, maintaining and supporting the software to ensure functionality and quality of the software through code, reviews and a high level of unit and functional test coverage. The Developer is responsible for writing technical/system documentation, identifying any potential risks and resolving identified issues, writing appropriate code comments to properly explain and document features being implemented and for the purposes of standardization and consistency, as well as being able to properly explain and document features being implemented or modified.

Your responsibilities will include:

Analyzing, recommending, and designing highly complex software architecture

  • Writing complex technical code
  • Evaluating programming code to ensure it has validity, compatibility, and that it meets appropriate standards
  • Commenting on programming code for the purposes of standardization and consistency
  • Analyzing, recommending and designing technical solutions for highly complex IT problems
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or acceptable combination of equivalent experience and education

  • A minimum of 7 years' experience as a software developer
  • Experience with Responsive design and AODA
  • Experience with RESTful APIs (creating, securing, versioning and integrating)
  • Experience with Java and related technologies (Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot, ORM frameworks)
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, MariaDB, etc)
  • Experience in cloud computing (Azure)
  • Thorough understanding of JavaScript and web markup, HTML, CSS
  • In-depth knowledge of the Angular framework (10+) and TypeScript
  • Comfortable with Reactive programming (RxJS, NgRx)
  • Comfortable with version control (git)
  • Working knowledge of developing secure applications
