Job Description

The De Beers Group has an opportunity for an energetic and motivated Communications Specialist to join the Corporate Affairs Team at the Calgary Support Centre. Reporting to the Senior Communications Officer, the incumbent will help deliver timely, accurate and impactful communications products that reflect De Beers Group's Pursuit of Brilliance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with the De Beers Group Managed Operations Corporate Affairs team to develop and implement the internal and external communications strategy;
  • Support Corporate Social Investment-related activities, including internal and external communications required to activate CSI activities; and
  • Identify and capture stories, photos and videos that can be used to support company communications goals and objectives.

This is a remote hybrid position.


  • Diploma or degree in communication, journalism and/or marketing;
  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications/public relations;
  • Travel to the Gahcho Kué Mine, Northwest Territories on a regular basis (a minimum of one week per month) and other De Beers sites and offices in Canada;
  • Demonstrated ability to write a variety of products, including media release, speaking notes, internal briefing notes, website content, social media posts;
  • Experience in updating and maintaining a website using a content management system;
  • Understanding of Brand Management and the principles of community engagement;
  • Photography/video capture, editing and production;
  • Good understanding of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn);
  • Principles of community engagement; and
  • Demonstrated ability in graphic design and working understanding of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
