The Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President Business Development, the Clinical Business Development Specialist will leverage their clinical expertise to lead the design of patient-centered innovative care models that support business development activities across Medavie. The role provides the opportunity to support strategic business initiatives, with particular focus on creating solutions that support improved health outcomes by assembling and presenting market information and data to enhance growth objectives, processes and results.

Key Responsibilities

Supports the design of innovative patient-centered care models based on experience and best practices

  • or in alignment with quadruple aim objectives

Performs competitive landscape analyses / industry monitoring;

Provide operational and / or clinical subject matter expertise to public sector business development opportunities (e.g. RFPs) as well as organic growth within existing operating companies.

Prepare analysis and written/presentation overviews for opportunities as required.

Complete market research and analysis on an ongoing basis to identify and track potential opportunities and support the development ofprogram roadmaps

Participate in project Implementations.

Provide support to MBC in business development team as appropriate

Builds strength in understanding current and future state government trends/expectations in operations

Coordinate across internal support areas, developing strong relationships across the enterprise to deliver results


Education: University or college diploma related to professional designation or other related areas

Work Experience: Minimum five years as a paramedic, nurse or other allied health professional with progressing experience / responsibilities. Preference for candidate to maintain licensure in home province.

Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of Excel and strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.

Language Skills : Bilingualism is considered a strong asset.

Knowledge: Business development and procurement experience working with government clients. Also possess a strong understanding of healthcare systems.

Analytical Thinking: High attention to detail, using logic and good judgment in decision making; takes initiative and a creative approach to problem solving.

Communication Skills: Possess superior communication skills (oral, written, listening) and delivers information clearly and confidently both with internal and external partners.

Execution and Organizational Skills: Prioritizes and effectively copes with change. Ability to organize work and information in a well thought out manner to deliver on specific tasks and reporting deadlines. Proven bias for action that is solution oriented, business outcome driven and client focused. Works successfully under pressure and in the face of ambiguity - proactively identifies when it is necessary to take certain steps and move ahead with confidence.

Team Work Skills: Demonstrates an understanding of how the job contributes to the overall Business Development team and takes the initiative to help with problem situations. Easily gains trust and support and develops strong business relationships both outside and inside the organization, encourages collaboration and is composed. Seeks and is receptive to feedback and enjoys working with people both as part of a team and one-on-one.
