Located in two of Edmonton's most vibrant communities, 53 North Collection is looking for an exciting & enthusiastic addition to support our sales and catering team!

The Sales & Catering Coordinator is a key member of the Revenue Team and works closely with the Sales Managers, Catering Managers, Ampersand27 and the hotel Operations Teams.

This role will assist in the overall efficient operation of the Sales & Catering Department at the Matrix Hotel, Metterra and Varscona "Hotels on Whyte? and Ampersand27 restaurant.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Consistently performs the Hotel's Company Standards of Service; interact with guests, all hotel associates in a professional, gracious and friendly manner and ensures staff does the same.
  • Qualify incoming inquiries and direct to appropriate personnel within the Sales and Catering department.
  • Assist Sales/Catering Managers with producing merged contracts, data entry, and various tasks as needed.
  • Assist Sales and Catering Managers with processing bookings, group resumes, rooming lists and billing arrangements.
  • Work with Restaurant leadership to book larger groups and buy-outs into Ampersand27.
  • Meet with Catering Manager and the Food and Beverage Team as needed to review upcoming functions.
  • Assist in organizing site tours, trade shows and promotional events within and outside of the hotel.
  • Effectively manage group posting/billing process; review and verify all charges on all guest invoices for accuracy and make any required changes before sending to client.
  • Sell Hotel products and services through various communication methods; participate in site tours and assist in prospecting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years catering sales experience required.
  • Post-Secondary education or Hospitality education considered an asset.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Can communicate well with guests.
  • Must be willing to ?pitch-in? and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Knowledge of a hotel structure and how all departments interact.
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication skills: verbal, written and listening.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Security clearance required upon offer of employment.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
  • Must be completely familiar with the role during hotel emergencies, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, the use of Incident Reports and Logbooks.
  • Provincial legislation requires employees to work safely and cooperate with their employer by following the health and safety rules for the job.
