Athletics Event Coordinator (Administrative Program Assistant II )

Pronghorn Athletics' window to the community is our events in which we host the university community and the broader Southern Alberta community. Successful events require considerable attention. As such, we require a leader to be responsible to plan, coordinate, help with fundraising and community events, and execute our large number of events.

These events include all of the home games, playoffs, and events for our teams and department. All aspects of game day management will need to be addressed. There are also several other events that need leadership, including but not limited to: Operation Red Nose, Blue and Gold Athletic banquet, Herd gatherings, Academic All-Canadian dinner, Alumni events and fundraisers, Athletic Scholarship Breakfast, Sponsor Appreciation Night, Hall of Fame Induction, and the Jersey Retirement event.

This position will be the lead within the department administratively with invoicing, purchase orders and requisitions, expense claims, financial oversight, office management, and procurement.

Position Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work creatively and collaboratively as part of a team. Sporting events are complex with many moving parts and the ability to manage multiple priorities is considered an asset.

Critical qualities for this position include: a positive attitude, critical thinking, problem-solving skills to devise creative solutions, the ability to take initiative to support departmental outcomes, and the ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in our stakeholder partners. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated skills in organization, leadership, planning, and attention to detail. Multi-tasking and using discretion, time management, and prioritizing are crucial, as multiple demands are simultaneously being made by multiple stakeholders during busy times.

The successful candidate will have strong office administration skills and a knowledge of financial basics.

Preference will be given to candidates with a background in event planning, athletics administration, and/or office support services. Post-secondary experience will be considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.

Hiring Range

$4,565.00 - $5,104.00 monthly
