Job Function / Role Summary:

Reporting into the Senior Manager, Events, the Manager of Events for Beauty will make critical contributions to the development and implementation of innovative marketing strategies for the beauty category in our stores. They are responsible for creating the Hudson's Bay Beauty event strategy to maximize exposure for the Hudson's Bay brand, which includes concepting and managing logistics for all Hudson's Bay national & local store events.

The Manager of Events for Beauty proactively generates big picture thinking, and ensures store business objectives are met in all store events.

This position is well suited to a collaborative, innovative and analytical thinker with the organizational ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. The Manager of Events for Beauty will utilize business acumen, relationship building, influence and communication skills to build strong relationships cross functionally and with leaders across Hudson's Bay & The Bay.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Guide and implement key national initiatives and local event marketing strategies for Beauty for Hudson's Bay stores
  • Lead development of thoughtful event proposals for the organization
  • Research, identify and share event best practices in retail and other industries
  • Manage and oversee event logistics with vendors, agencies and other partners
  • Develop key event documents by leveraging templates (run of show, contact list, inventory list)
  • Develop and manage cross functional communication channels and processes during all stages of events: planning, execution, recap
  • On-site event management
  • Create supporting material such as reporting templates, trackers, and post mortems.
  • Analyze store marketing campaigns and provide recommendations
  • Track project performance against measurable KPIs, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Work cross functionally with Merchandise Teams, Marketing and other key stakeholders to manage execution of projects.
  • Work with the Marketing team to measure and review the ongoing effectiveness of the marketing programs and communicate the results to the business partners.
  • Based on the results, develop and implement financially viable ?course correction' activity to ensure the achievement of the financial goals.
  • Build business summaries on a weekly basis for the DVP, Marketing review as required.
  • Use actionable research and data to improve, optimize and drive future campaigns, incorporating a fast & fearless model of learning
  • Develop and demonstrate a clear and persuasive presentation style, and ensure presentation support materials are accurate and consistent with brand standards
  • Work with cross-functional partners to drive initiatives, and manage day-to-day operations of the program, including communicating with key players, building and sharing best practices, offering solutions to critical issues and innovating the program to remain relevant to customers
  • Partner with merchants, business development teams and stores to identify and drive licensed business opportunities, including restaurants, services, merchandise and pop-ups
  • Ideate and lead specialty campaigns including, but not limited to, store pop-ups, brand launches and exclusive product drops
  • Ensure marketing briefs are completed with excellence and on time including key insights, learnings and social listening/trends.
  • Drive organizational engagement through ownership of team-building activities
  • Proactively respond to changing business trends
  • Provide leadership, career planning and coaching to store teams.
  • Proof all work, individual and direct report(s), for accuracy, paying close attention to detail
  • Perform other duties as required.


  • 3-5 years of experience in special events for Beauty
  • Budget management skills to ensure budget tracking in line with plans/projections & ROI
  • Proficiency in utilizing available technology, especially Microsoft Office Suite
  • Successful experience managing individuals

Key Partnerships

The Bay Corporate Marketing teams:

  • Liaise with all head office marketing teams to exchange relevant information to develop fully integrated marketing campaigns and initiatives for the stores
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of information to the production area of the marketing department and any external Agencies


  • Liaise when needed with the Buying Team to exchange/compile information and materials required for marketing projects and initiatives

Store Teams:

  • Liaise with store teams (opps, in store marketing, planning etc..) to exchange relevant information to develop fully integrated marketing campaigns and initiatives
