About the Role

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Communications & PR, the Manager, Communications & Public Relations is an expert in all things related to PR for kids' and family content and brands. As the lead publicist for a portfolio extending across WildBrain's content, brands and broadcast businesses, the Manager, Communications will play an integral role in WildBrain's integrated Global Marketing-Communications team, planning, building and implementing best-in-class international trade and domestic consumer PR programs to strategically advance WildBrain's position as a leader in kids' and family entertainment.

Bringing a creative sensibility and exceptional writing skills, the Manager, Communications & Public Relations will collaborate closely with PR and Marketing peers across the global organization to support numerous WildBrain brands and content projects with a strong emphasis on international Trade PR. The role also supports WildBrain Television's broadcast channels through PR efforts in Canada, with a strong emphasis on consumer entertainment and managing youth talent. The Manager, Communications will oversee one team member in this role.

Responsibilities :

What You'll Do:

  • Executes PR programs and supports strategic planning to promote WildBrain's content and brands business.
  • Performs media relations duties for WildBrain's content and brands business, executing and reporting on outreach programs. Serves as media spokesperson when necessary.
  • Maintains long-range PR planning calendar and collaborates closely with business leaders, peers and PR agencies across the global organization to execute best-in-class PR strategies.
  • Writes and edits PR materials, including press releases, articles, media pitches, messaging, talent bios, social media posts, internal communications posts and other assets as needed. Coaches WildBrain spokespeople for media interviews and Trade event appearances and manages appearances by WildBrain spokespeople at industry trade events.
  • Provides media and social media training to youth performers for WildBrain Television.
  • Services press releases from external partners for WildBrain review and approval.
  • Provides counsel and recommendations to business leaders and PR team for issues management.
  • Qualifications:

What You'll Bring:

  • Publicist with in-depth experienced in the international kids' and family entertainment space. Experience in a Canadian public company an asset.
  • Expert communicator with exceptional writing and editing skills. Experience or training in journalism preferred.
  • Demonstrated success creating and executing PR strategies in the international entertainment space, with ability to manage multiple PR projects on parallel timelines.
  • Deep experience in media relations with established contacts in the international entertainment industry Trade press, as well as Canadian consumer entertainment media.
  • Demonstrated good judgment, tact and discretion when dealing with confidential and highly sensitive information.
  • Ability to tactfully manage sensitive collaborations with external stakeholders.
  • Experience coaching, training and working with youth actors for media and social media interactions.
  • Experience working in a small, collaborative team inspiring and mentoring junior employees to excel in their roles.
  • Experience working with CISION newswire and media monitoring platforms an asset.
