The Services Software Developer (SSD) in Informatics (PKI) will identify technical solutions that enable customer workflows and integrate customer systems with PerkinElmer Signals Notebook. The SSD will advise customers on their integration development work and craft well-documented, reusable and testable code. The SSD possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong desire to be customer-facing and curiosity about the ?why? as well as the ?what?. Passion for learning new programming languages, experimenting with new libraries, frameworks and architectures and putting that experimentation to use in proof-of-concept deployment is a must. The SDD will have a strong understanding of core software engineering, system design and integration and will advise customer developers as well as executing.

Your day to day

  • Identify technical solutions to enable customer workflows and integrate customer systems with PerkinElmer Signals Notebook, our cloud based ELN
  • Advise customers on their integration development work
  • Craft well-documented, reusable, and testable code
  • Demo solutions to customers and process feedback
  • Work with DevOps to define deployment and maintenance mechanisms for your applications
  • Provide technical expertise on project definition, scope, and delivery estimates
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional project team consisting of Business Analysts, Configuration experts, Project Managers, Account Managers, and Services leadership to achieve a quality outcome and high customer satisfaction


  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent

Work Experience

  • 2 - 3 years software development experience emphasizing utilization of best practices for security, maintainability, scalability, and performance
  • Experience with Java (including Spring Boot) and/or Node.js
  • Experience developing Web Applications
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs and applying various authentication mechanisms
  • Experience with Windows and Linux platforms
  • Experience defining Docker containers, familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus
  • Experience with relational databases, ideally Postgres
  • Experience architecting solutions is preferred

Experience with solutions for the life sciences, applied or food industries is a plus
