Located in two of Edmonton's most vibrant communities, 53 North Collection is looking for an exciting & enthusiastic addition to lead our sales team!

Overseeing the transient sales efforts of three independent, boutique properties in Edmonton, the Director of Transient Sales will demonstrate passion for the industry, knowledge of the market, industry trends, and the ability to lead the team. This role will have responsibility for The Matrix Hotel in downtown Edmonton and the Metterra and Varscona "Hotels on Whyte."


  • Solicits past and new business to ensure all revenue goals in transient room sales are achieved and exceeded through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspection and written communication.
  • Manages accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and productivity.
  • Develop in conjunction with the marketing manager, leisure packages & promotions.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
  • Compile reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include, but not limited to the weekly/monthly/annual Forecast, Marketing Budget, Lead Management System, Booking Report, star reports and Sales Meeting minutes
  • Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various transient markets.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Internally promote Crescent programs.
  • Meet with and entertain clients some of which will require some travel.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing. Prepare and conduct customer presentations
  • Initiate preparation of computerized annual Sales & Marketing Plan and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions.
  • Works effectively with Rooms, Catering, Conference Services and Banquet Departments to provide quality service to guests.
  • Assist with overseeing all Social Channels to ensure all KPI's are met and strategies are in line with overall hotel goals.
  • Attend Revenue calls and Business reviews


  • Three to five years' experience in a full service hotel required.
  • Must have extensive experience with marketing a property.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Can communicate well with guests.
  • Must be willing to ?pitch-in? and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Knowledge of a hotel structure and how all departments interact.
  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
  • Extensive skill in development and delivery of sales presentations.
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions.


  • Security clearance required upon offer of employment.

  • Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
  • Must be completely familiar with the role during hotel emergencies, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, the use of Incident Reports and Logbooks.
  • Provincial legislation requires employees to work safely and cooperate with their employer by following the health and safety rules for the job.
