POSITION SUMMARY

The Donald Gordon Conference Centre at Queen's University is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the roll of Event Sales Coordinator, reporting to the Sales & Marketing Manager.

DUTIES & REPONSIBILITYS

  • Coordinate information for contract and BEO production.
  • Communicate the work of service departments to ensure a satisfactory outcome of all events and the delivery of excellence in customer service and experience.
  • Suggestively sell packages and menus while meeting the clients' needs and budget; customizing within existing products. Negotiate pricing with approval from Management.
  • Create and maintain lasting relationships with current and future clients, and ensure the integrity of the Donald Gordon Conference Centre brand.
  • Prepare occupancy forecasting and analyze rate variance to maximize revenue.
  • Assist in maintaining the event management and property management system
  • Complete post-event activities, to handle guest complaints / positive feedback, ensuring 100% guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure that accurate financials for all business are maintained in a computerized system.
  • Contribute to the Sales & Marketing department goals to increase client base, and meet sales targets
  • Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of meeting/event planning experience.
  • Experience working in a Hotel, Hospitality or Food Setting preferred.
  • Experience working within an academic setting is an asset.
  • Proven ability to anticipate project needs, discern priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong planning, organizational and implementation skills. Results oriented mind-set.
  • Effective Communication skills (written and oral), must have excellent customer relations skills
  • Flexible attitude, teamwork and cooperation skills; collaboration, initiative, relationship building skills, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to easily learn new software
