Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Sales, the Manager, Business Trade and Consumer Event Sales works to improve REAL's market position and achieve profitable financial growth for the organization. This position will maintain existing revenues and generate incremental revenue for REAL by managing existing clients and developing new business through sales of all REAL products and services, with a focus on catering and trade/consumer show offerings. Strategic sales planning is a key function of this role with responsibility to develop and cultivate an ongoing, healthy pipeline of new business for the organization. The primary functions of this position include the responsibility to lead a sales team, create and execute an annual sales plan and budget, and manage the daily sales operations associated with this portfolio. This includes identifying and soliciting new prospects; developing quality sales proposals and bid responses; negotiating and closing effective contract terms; engaging with internal peer groups on the coordination and execution of all contract deliverables; and completing internal sales reporting while also maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions and trends. Working closely with all internal departments, with particular emphasis on relationships with REAL's Food and Beverage, Sports and Entertainment and Events teams, this position will be committed to service excellence by accurately representing our corporate capabilities, meeting and exceeding financial targets and business commitments, and overseeing our event planning team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a member of REAL's Management team, the Manager, Business Trade and Consumer Event Sales participates in the development of REAL's strategic planning process, develops, and implements the business plan to achieve the corporation's short and long-term goals.
You will lead, oversees and manages Business Trade and Consumer Event Sales activities and programs, strategies and services to generate increased catering and trade/consumer show events and profitable revenue growth.
You will develop, manage, maintain and nurture strong, long-term relationships with the local business community and out-of-province target audiences as well as partners to facilitate the retention of existing clients' business as well as the identification of new growth opportunities.
You will ensure effective business unit financial planning.
You will lead and develop strong teams to carry out business unit strategies.

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism or related field or a combination or related education, training and experience is required.
Certifications in sales training courses is an asset.
Minimum 5 years' experience in sales/sales management position with a proven record of accomplishment in meeting or exceeding sales goals.
Experience in roles that require client management capabilities and a strong customer focus.
Experience forecasting, developing budgets, bids response processes, and writing winning bid responses and sales proposals.
Demonstrated experience in successfully building, coaching, and motivating high performing teams while holding employees accountable.
Computer proficiency with experience using computer software, email, and Microsoft Office Products (especially word and excel) as well as customer relationship management systems.
Preference will be given to candidates with hospitality, conference, tradeshow or large event sales experience in the hospitality, entertainment, or tourism sectors.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
Knowledge of marketing and communications principles.
Strong relationship management, project management, problem solving and change management skills
Excellent communicator with ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organization and partner organizations.

Excellent leadership skills with the proven ability to lead and motivate team members.
Strong organizational and presentation skills including demonstrated experience in writing business documentation.

Strong time-management skills and a proven track record of delivering quality results, with attention to details.
Computer proficiency required including advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, and various marketing platforms.
Independent, creative self-starter with ability to initiate and adapt to new ideas.
