The Communication Planner within our newly minted Loblaw Agency , will lead strategy from a media connections and brand strategy standpoint. Connecting a knowledge of marketing and advertising channels, with the business challenges and customer journeys to create campaigns and content based in true insights. The Communications Planner will report to the Creative Planner and will play an integral role on our Loblaw Agency team. The chosen candidate will support our famous President's Choice® brands, including PC Optimum? and PC Optimum Insiders? Subscription and PC Financial.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strong Strategic acumen to ensure understanding of brand objectives, research, and creative platform
  • Provide strategic rigor to the implementation of the idea, ensuring integration of the work between creative and media. Their key outputs include messaging frameworks, comms tasks, tactical briefs, and ecosystems
  • Working closely with the media team, lead the channel planning process, across all points where we can put our message (Owned, Earned, Shared, Paid)
  • Translating creative briefs into comprehensive, creative and innovative communication strategies based on a deep understanding of media tactics, channels opportunities, and consumer behaviors
  • Knowledge of analytics and experience testing and optimizing
  • Produce cohesive strategies that bring success to campaigns, including channel roles, best practices, consumer journeys
  • Champion the ongoing cross-agency integrated planning process
  • Support senior team, along with creative and all marketing disciplines in understanding what it takes to connect with people
  • Expertise across all channels, including digital and social
  • Stay curious and be familiar with competitor marketing programs
  • Creative inspiring, concise presentations and sell your work effectively
  • Be resourceful to work with different budgets and come forward with ideas, solutions and suggestions
  • Based on media and channel insights by persona and target, make a recommendation for a customer journey map
  • Connecting regularly with business leads to establish a firm depth of knowledge within the business to drive insightful strategy and make recommendations

Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of integrated media or channel planning experience. Strong social and digital media experience and best practices is required
  • A proven track record of implementing holistic communications planning strategies across channels that brings the big idea to life
  • Experience integrating digital platforms with creative, media, and in-store disciplines toward a singular strategic communications approach
  • Track record of successful and productive relationship management
  • Strong knowledge of the dynamics of channels. How each media element performs alone, how they perform together and how they are constantly changing
  • A passion for culture, trends, and motivations in consumer behavior which inform and impact channel strategies
  • Digitally and socially sophisticated, and embraces content thinking in media. Able to operate w/ ease across channels
  • Innovative thinking are important personal characteristics that will make a difference
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Exceptionally innovative and creative, with excellent ability to collaborate
  • Excellent organizational, planning and problem-solving skills
