Job Description

We are in search of a Sr Marketing Operations Lead to join the Brand & Audience Expansion team. Our team's mission is to help Shopify reach new audiences and empower more entrepreneurs.

As Sr Marketing Operations Lead you will lead a team of Operations Managers and collaborate with your peers in Marketing UX to plan, produce, coordinate, and track the results of brand and marketing campaigns on a mission to inspire and empower more entrepreneurs. Your team will coordinate specialists across our team including: designers, developers, content designers and video producers who create content, campaigns and experiences to engage and inspire our existing merchants and future entrepreneurs. Your team will be responsible for creating the tools and processes that help our leadership make decisions and better understand how our team is tracking against our goals.

You would be an ideal candidate if you consider yourself a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You are highly organized and thrive on designing thoughtful processes and systems to help teams thrive. You have strong quantitative skills and can work magic in a spreadsheet. You are a self-starter that enjoys navigating ambiguity through experimentation and iteration and who knows how to solve problems that are not well defined.

Lead and growing a team of Operations specialists; help reports plan and resource projects; surfacing blockers or resourcing gaps with Leadership

Ensure robust measurement and leadership reporting on strategic priorities and track team wide performance against goals.

Translate team objectives into clear, measurable goals and outcomes

  • working across project champions to measure, track, and communicate project or campaign performance
  • campaigns that include: online, social, tv/video and more

Collaborate with UX & Ops Managers to plan project resourcing needs (i.e. people, budgets, contractors/agencies)

Own tools and processes that keep teams organized and on schedule, always aiming to find the right tool for the job

Own team communication and rituals that keep our team aligned (e.g. QBR, Project Roadmap, Annual Planning)

Partner with key supporting stakeholder groups including: Finance, Legal, Growth and Data

Align with Sr Operations Leaders across Marketing to understand their part of the business


Management and leadership skills, allowing you to motivate and lead a team while championing broader strategic priorities

Hands-on leader with experience working with in-house R&D teams and external agencies

Strong understanding of supporting teams through a creative process including individuals across Design, Development, Content Strategy & Video Production

Experience managing multiple teams and projects simultaneously across multiple timelines

Strong analytical skills to deliver insights to improve performance

Naturally curious and enjoy learning about new technologies, tools, and digital trends and excited to find innovative new ways to connect with audiences

Experience with senior stakeholder management, you know when to solicit input and how to translate feedback from other senior leaders into actionable insights for your team

You have experience embracing uncertainty and managing risk

A good sense of humour!
