We're looking to put our foot on the gas in 2021 to tackle our largest challenge (growing brand awareness) and to launch a new product for a new market.
We are looking for someone who knows what an operationally excellent team looks like to align and accelerate our growing team.
About the job
As the Marketing Manager you will find yourself managing the...
Plan - You will work with the CEO to convert strategic priorities into actionable plans and the Product Manager to coordinate the new product launch.
Employees - You will be active in the hiring and training process for the Marketing team. You will need to figure out the best way to motivate and appreciate each person and will regularly be providing feedback (yours and solicited) to each of them.
Team - It is crucial for you to constantly find areas of uncertainty and bring everyone to the table to provide clarity. Make sure the team is regularly discussing and aligning around priorities/goals and be the tie breaker when required.
Systems - We're currently codifying how the marketing team works into frameworks for branding/messaging, project planning and prioritization, monitoring and influencing KPIs, and more. You will need to enforce these systems and, with the team's input, improve them.
Projects - Work with team members to identify and scope projects. Help them track their progress and troubleshoot the project if it is not on track or underperforming.
Reporting - In addition to department-level budgets and ROI, you will be reporting the team's activities and effectiveness of our advertising, email marketing, one-off campaigns, etc.
Employees - Finally, you will be active in the hiring and training process. You will need to figure out the best way to motivate and appreciate each person and will regularly be providing feedback (yours and solicited) to each of them.
Get involved! - You will have plenty of opportunities to roll up your sleeves and write content, manage social platforms, or fill whatever other gap you see. At the end of the day, we're a start-up. There will be plenty of other work thrown your way on top of whatever projects you bring to the table yourself.
You might not have a background in electronics, materials science, or manufacturing, and that's totally fine. Our team loves teaching; so as long as you're hungry to learn, you're going to thrive.
We're not looking for specific degrees or number of years in the workforce. As long as you can demonstrate relevant experience to our goals, we'll adjust the role and compensation to you. What experience is relevant?
You have worked at B2B companies that have the personality of a B2C brand
You have built and improved upon operational systems within a marketing team
You have been recognized by people you admire for growing as a manager and as a team lead
You have spent the majority of your career on a marketing team of fewer than 10 people
On a technical level, you must have plenty of experience with Asana (or similar project management tools). Experience with Hubspot and data analysis will be essential to measure performance of content, SEO strategies, social media marketing, website conversions, and funnel flow.
Finally, you need to be self-sufficient, take ownership, move fast, and find ways around obstacles. That being said, we expect you to put your hand up to say you need help. Voltera is at its best when we rally together to help a teammate with too much on their plate or that wants to expand their knowledge or skills.
We make tools for the electronics manufacturing industry.
Specifically, we shrink entire factories into a laptop-sized machine therefore cutting circuit board prototyping time from weeks to an hour. We will soon be releasing a product that will, for the first time, allow product developers around the world to easily design electronics that are flexible/stretchable/biocompatible/etc.
Our machines are used by thousands of hardware developers in over 60 countries to create devices that save lives, explore space, and teach the engineers of the future.
We are consistently among the top growing companies in Canada, have been TechCrunch Disrupt Champions and one of the most innovative Kickstarter campaigns of all time. Learn more about Voltera's history, products, and personality on our site and YouTube channel.
We are located in downtown Kitchener but currently working remotely like most companies. We will eventually be returning to the office.
