We are currently searching for a dynamic and committed individual to fulfill the role of Bilingual Supervisor-Policy and Communications


The Supervisor, Policy and Communications reports to the Manager of Quality Assurance and Organizational Development and is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient and effective programs related to all activities of the Communication function at the Society. Key responsibilities include supporting media and public relations activities, promoting positive public understanding and support for the Society, and leading the development and implementation of communications plans that advance CASO policy and advocacy strategic initiatives.

Functional and Operational responsibilities:

  • Monitors and reviews current and emerging external and child welfare issues, devises and recommends strategies or actions to manage reputational risk, highlight organizational priorities and strengths.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts special events for projects, milestones, and completions/results of projects, anniversaries, and visits by Ministry representatives and other occasions.
  • Leads and supervises the development and implementation of the Agency's editorial policy for all printed and electronic publications.
  • Provides support to the Board Chair and ED and senior managers through the provision of speeches, briefing notes and presentations.
  • Develops and implements annual marketing and communication plans.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for all media enquiries and directs all appropriate media inquiries to the Society's spokesperson.
  • Develops and maintains marketing tools to promote the Society, including website, social media, public service announcements, brochures and advertising.
  • Directly supervises a team of Communications staff.
  • Prepares budget plans, monitors communication expenditures, develops and maintains contracts with external vendors.


  • University degree in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations or other related field is required.
  • Minimum of five years in corporate communications, advocacy issues and strategy.
  • Proficiency in English and French with strong written and oral communication skills is required.
  • Experience in applying best practices in communications (strategic planning, implementation, resource development, public and media relations, stakeholder engagement).
  • Experience using design software tools (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience creating annual communication plans.
  • Experience in effectively supervising staff and managing a team.
  • Proven skills and knowledge of communications measurement systems (Google Analytics, Hootsuite, etc).
  • AODA knowledge, specifically the Communication Standard.
  • Solid understanding of media relations, social media, web and digital management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the culture, history and current oppressions experienced by people related to gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation and then faced within the 2SLGBTTQIA+ communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the culture, history and current oppressions experienced by Indigenous peoples and racialized communities.
  • Applies anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-indigenous racism and anti-2SLGBTTQIA+ lenses to social problems.
  • Sound clinical knowledge of the principles and practice of child welfare.

Salary: $81,632 to $106,874 commensurate with skills and/or experience.
