Your Role

As an agency with constantly evolving client needs, we're increasingly in need of people with a blend of skills who can help us deliver the best possible service to our clients. As a Graphic Designer and Learning Solutions Designer, you're a polymath. You have 1-2 years of experience working with InDesign and Illustrator, you are a strong writer, and you're familiar with Instructional Design. You're passionate about Learning, eager to learn new technologies, and to contribute your visual design and Learning expertise to our team.

Because all our work is custom, no project is ever the same. You'll be working on projects across a range of industries and clients, and contributing both visual and instructional design expertise. You'll need to be able to think on your feet (and sometimes outside of the box!), learn new content areas quickly, and be truly excited about the work that you do.

You'll be working on a team of passionate Learning Solutions Designers (and some medical writers!), and constantly have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from your smart, friendly, and curious colleagues. What You'll be doing

Graphic Design

  • Create visual design solutions that will be used to complement learning system deliverables, including:
  • Creating graphics to accompany text
  • Converting photographs and drawings into digital images and then manipulating those images (i.e. models, flowcharts, icon development)
  • Designing page layouts, interfaces, navigation components, video, and animations
  • Creating proposals and/or assets
  • Consult with clients and our internal project team regarding graphic deliverable needs, including material branding, stock photography, corporate style guides, etc...
  • Ensure all final deliverable materials adhere to client requirements (e.g. quality check for fonts, graphic resolutions, branding, etc...)
  • Manage workflow and deadlines on multiple, simultaneous projects
  • Consult with project team and clients regarding deliverable needs, including software and other technology requirements
  • Manage/execute internal DTP requirements
  • Stay up-to-date on visual design trends, and share your knowledge with our graphic design team

Consult with Clients on Project Deliverables

  • Understand the client business objectives and key strategies that are driving Metrix project work in Learning
  • Identify client opportunities based on current project work requirements
  • Consult with client on Learning solutions materials design and development
  • Participate in project team meetings both internally and externally

Participate in Front-End Analysis

  • Conduct and analyze the results of a target audience analysis, technology assessment, and/or content-audit
  • Co-facilitate focus groups, subject-matter expert interviews, and/or develop a survey as part of your needs assessment
  • Analyze the results of the target-audience assessments
  • Organize the results of the front-end analysis as an input to the recommendations report

Design & Develop Learning Solutions

  • Based on the front-end analysis, participate in the creation of innovative design concepts, detailed content outlines, wireframes/storyboards, using your strong hold of the English language to ensure that these designs are accessible for the end-learner
  • Develop instructor-led and virtual-instructor-led materials including developing objectives and pre/post session materials by using instructional design methodologies such as roleplays, case studies, scenarios, etc...
  • Develop digital-learning solutions (using rapid authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Lectora, Rise, publishing software, and graphic design tools)
  • Design and develop performance support tools (e.g. apps, web-enabled tools, etc...)

Implement & Evaluate Learning, Training, Development Initiatives

  • In a team, support the development of implementation plans and materials for launch and rollout
  • Contribute to the development of the evaluation plan and tools for the project

Project Management

  • Follow the project charter
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and project-scope based on your contribution
  • Self-manage smaller projects

Technology & Innovation

  • Continually build your expertise and demonstrate it through a range of channels
  • Use strong Design Thinking or problem solving skills

Leadership & Coaching

  • Collaborate, communicate, and coach team members, project leaders, client partners, etc... to share leading practices
  • Provide constructive feedback to all team members in order to improve the outcomes of the project and the project deliverables
  • Seek feedback continuously from all stakeholders
  • Demonstrate visible commitment to Metrix Group's mission, vision, values, and business goals, and contribute to building a culture and environment for success

Your Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in humanities or business; essay-based degrees preferred
  • Education or equivalent experience in graphic design
  • Graduate degree in adult education, instructional design, or related field is considered an asset; CTDP is considered an asset
  • Strong writing skills; ability to simplify and communicate complex information
  • 1-3 years of learning, training, and development experience
  • Familiarity with ADDIE and Bloom's Taxonomy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, and to work independently and collaborate in a high-performance team environment with demanding deadlines
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking
  • Experience working with or consulting to large or complex organizations
  • Demonstrated ability navigating ambiguity and problem-solving capabilities
