By joining St. Michael's Hospital Foundation, you will join a team of top fundraisers who are challenging the status quo to change the face of health care. The Specialist will assist with the planning, organization and implementation of key communications and marketing projects that powerfully tell St. Michael's story to donors, volunteers and the public.


  • Assists the Communications team with the planning and execution of multi-channel fundraising and marketing campaigns, including advertising, digital, social, and promotional
  • Supports the team with the coordination of projects
  • Supports senior staff with day-to-day internal and external communications
  • Liaises between advertising and public relations agencies and internal communications teams
  • Sources information and materials as required
  • Performs industry research and contributes innovative ideas and solutions
  • Coordinates meetings, materials and correspondence with staff, agencies, volunteers, key stakeholders, media and government officials
  • Coordinates interviews and photo shoots with hospital physicians, donors, researchers, scientists and executives
  • Assist with financial processing (i.e. invoice processing)
  • Assists the Director, Communications with key projects and initiatives
  • Schedules internal and external meetings for the team with volunteers, donors and senior hospital leaders
  • Organizes meetings including agendas, minutes, preparation of presentations, handouts and other materials
  • Works as a team player promoting a positive and professional work environment and conducts role with integrity and respect
  • Acts as an ambassador throughout the community, positively representing the Hospital and the Foundation
  • Abides by the policies and procedures of St. Michael's Hospital and St. Michael's Hospital Foundation
  • Abides by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and works in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of the Foundation


  • Degree, or pursuit of degree, in public relations, advertising or journalism is preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant project management experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communications and marketing
  • Demonstrated leadership, reliability and flexibility
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with standard office software in a Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic mail/scheduling)
  • InDesign / Photoshop experience an asset
  • Strong communications skills (verbal/written)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and be self-motivated in a high-pressure, fast-paced and demanding work environment
  • Must be able to work cooperatively in a team environment and also tackle challenges with a positive and engaging manner

Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evening and weekends
