Marketing Coordinator

  • 0.8 FTE Temporary / Internship (16 week)

PURPOSE

This role supports EAC to tailor its promotional efforts to a variety of audience segments

  • individuals whose lives are affected by epilepsy, donors and the general public. Persistent, incremental builds in content messaging helps to amplify our presence in Calgary increasing and broadening our audience. Current and curated content is critical in building our credibility as a source for information on and support with epilepsy. Strategic connections with influencers in the field
  • be they advocates, researchers, or interesting people with a story relevant to our mission and mandate are an opportunity to enter into the larger conversation.

TASKS

  • Develop content (posts, blogs, newsletter) used to engage with our audience and reach new people drawing them to our website to learn more about what we offer and how to get involved or support us in our work
  • Use analytics to track and discover what social media and digital content is of interest so we do more of it and less of what is not of interest
  • Investigate, assess and recommend on social media applications and type of content for each
  • Schedule outbound marketing feed to ensure continuous flow of relevant information
  • Monitor inbound dialogue through social media to improve engagement and reach (potentially more of Southern AB)
  • Research and connect with influencers to improve and increase the volume of relevant content served to our audience
  • Support third party event organizers (charity runs and the like) in generating interest and participation in their campaigns in support of EAC
  • Support ED in media connections (Purple Day or Anniversary Campaign), in preparing the ARTC and general brand management (consistency)
  • Support EAC's fund development program through assessment of online giving and engagement platforms such as text to donate, FB fundraising etc. to increase donor pool

MEASURING SUCCESS

  • Increase audience of followers on social media to support donor and volunteer interest and increase public awareness
  • Support service targets in information counselling and community education through promotions, website and social presence
  • Advancement of EAC's current narrative through creative
  • design, writing, publishing to support fundraising campaign and 2020 Annual Report to Community

CANDIDATE

  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of an undergraduate program in: public relations, communications or marketing program
  • Interest in, or experience volunteering within the not-for-profit sector or services to persons diagnosed with a long-term condition affecting health and quality of life
  • Confident communicator, flexible mindset and with the ability to consider and respond logically and tactfully to the viewpoints of others
  • Ability to take work within a team environment and take direction from others
  • Self-starter who can work independently to further organizational goals
  • Graphic design skills considered an asset

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment / Virtual (COVID-19 dependent) with some field work (content gathering), access to a personal vehicle is an asset
  • Reporting to the Executive Director with access to mentorship and industry leaders / professionals working in the field of marketing and communications
  • Flexibility in days/hours worked required depending on needs of the organization and to be negotiated with suitable candidate

REWARD

  • Compensation at $20/hour + statutory benefits
  • Flexible work hours (works a maximum of 64 hours total for each two-week period) based upon organization need with no overtime
