We’re looking for a smart, social and technologically-savvy Editor to develop digital content and manage writers also producing content for the online elements of a unique new cross-platform media property that’s designed to celebrate and promote the best of Montreal. The perfect candidate will be someone with the skills to write effectively for online and mobile readers, but also the experience and talent to develop overall editorial plans and both manage and edit a pool of freelance writers.

This dream job is with a fully-funded media company that has vast experience and insights in effective local, national and international tourism marketing. This soon-to-launch media property combines best practices in print, online, digital, mobile and social media marketing to provide advertisers wanting to reach tourists and locals with a highly attractive, worthwhile media solution.  Regularly refreshed, instantly actionable content will make the guide invaluable to consumers.

We need a person who knows how to write effectively for online audiences and fully understands it is different from print or other mediums. This person is an idea machine who can steadily develop or assign great content pieces about the best in shopping, dining, attractions and events in greater Montreal. That person will have an established track record working in online publishing, and has directly edited and managed staff or freelance writers. 

The candidate should be able to both manage his or her own team, as well as function effectively as a key member of the larger team. The candidate can manage time and adjust calmly and efficiently to fast-shifting schedules and demands. The perfect candidate knows and loves Montreal, and would take immense pride in producing editorial content that readers see as an essential resource.

Core requirements:
Minimum of 3-5 years of proven writing/editing experience for an online publication.      
Strong technical skills and experience working with online publishing and CMS (content management system) platforms 
Bilingual (French and English)
Strong knowledge of social, print, web and mobile mediums.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining focus, productivity and meeting deadlines.
